Welcome! The aim of this website is to introduce you to our Probus Club and to give some idea of who we are and what we do.
The club was founded in 1988 to provide opportunities for retired professional and business men from different walks of life to enjoy the company of others with similar interests. Most of our members live in Shadwell and North Leeds, but others come from nearby towns and villages such as Wetherby, Scarcroft and Harrogate.
We meet in the Shadwell Social Club, Leeds 17 at 10.00 am on the third Monday of each month (except December). After we have all had time to chat over coffee at the bar, the Chairman will start the formal meeting at 10.30 am. This usually represents an entertaining hour-long talk by a guest speaker, followed by a short business meeting. Sandwiches and drinks are on sale at the bar and we sometimes arrange for a buffet lunch to be available at the Club. There is a Club car park.
We organise lunches, visits to places of interest and an annual holiday at which wives (or partners) and widows of former members are invited to join us.
Our club is a member of United Kingdom Probus Clubs and copies of their quarterly magazine are made available to members at our meetings.
We are a friendly club - limited to around 50 members - and have room for one or two new members at the moment. The subscription is £20 per annum and there is a one-off joining fee of £6.
If you might be interested in joining us and would like to come along as a guest to one of our meetings, or for any further information about the club, please telephone
Gordon Wilson, our Hon Secretary, on 01937 586263 or click here to email. Visitors from other Probus clubs are always very welcome too!
We look forward to seeing you.
